PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL element, an illuminating device with the EL element, a display device and a liquid crystal display device, which enable the increase in the light extraction efficiency.;SOLUTION: The EL element includes: a translucent substrate 2; an optical resonance sheet 7 provided on a second surface of the translucent substrate; a luminescent layer 4; and a light reflection layer 9 provided on the opposite side to the optical resonance sheet 7 with respect to the luminescent layer 4. The optical resonance sheet 7 is formed to have: a pair of first optical resonance faces 15 extending in a first direction and inclined to form an apex portion 17 with an angle θ1 between 88 and 98 degrees inclusive; and a pair of second optical resonance faces 16 extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction at an angle between 80 and 90 degrees inclusive and inclined to form an apex portion 18 with an angle θ2 between 88 and 98 degrees inclusive. The light reflection layer 9 is formed so that the reflectivity of light is between 30 and 100% inclusive, and the distribution of light reflection makes a Gaussian distribution with a coefficient within 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
