PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase calibration method for a phased array antenna in which the magnitude of electric power radiated from each antenna element decreases symmetrically from the central axis toward ends.;SOLUTION: In the phase calibration method for a phased array antenna, the phases of phase shifters 42 and 43 are varied in the same way. The shifters 42 and 43 are connected to an antenna element 21 that is positioned at the center of an array when an odd number of antennas are arrayed or, when an even number of antennas are arrayed, to a pair of antenna elements at the center of the array and a pair of transmitting antenna elements 22 and 23 which are positioned symmetrically relative to the central axis of the array and have equal output power. A directivity pattern formed by the antenna element 21 at the center of the array and the pair of transmitting antenna elements 22 and 23 is acquired from the distribution of power received by a receiving device 70, and the phase values of the phase shifters 42 and 43 are set so that the value of side lobe is a prescribed value or less in the acquired directivity pattern.
