PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the transmission efficiency while keeping a function of eliminating a delay wave due to addition of a guard period. ;SOLUTION: In an orthogonal frequency division multiplex OFDM system, a sbutractor 122 of a reception system uses a signal for detecting an optimum guard interval length inserted to a carrier in a transmission system to calculate line quality, an optimum guard interval length detector 123 uses the calculated line quality to calculate a guard interval length required at minimum to eliminate the delay wave, uses the result for a control signal to one carrier of the transmission system and the reception system demodulating it uses this control signal to set the guard interval length.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
