PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an &alpha;-&beta; type titanium alloy having a low Young's modulus of 75 GPa, and to provide a method for producing the same.;SOLUTION: This &alpha;-&beta; type titanium alloy contains, by mass, &ge;4.4% and 5.5% Al, &ge;1.4% and 2.3% Fe, &ge;1.5% and 5.0% Mo, impurities suppressed to 0.1% Si and 0.01% C, and a remainder Ti and inevitable impurities. The titanium alloy in which the total area ratio of a &beta; phase and a martensitic phase is &ge;55% in a microstructure, and an alloy component in these phases is &ge;3.85% and 11.0% in terms of Mo equivalent, and the Young's modulus is 75 GPa, can be produced by applying thereto solution heat treatment for cooling at a cooling speed over water cooling from a temperature of 850&deg;C and &le;950&deg;C, and thereafter by applying cold working thereto.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
