In the normal mode, the apparatus measures the power consumption during the normal mode of the image forming apparatus 100 using a power measuring part 30 (S102); when returning to the normal mode from the power-saving mode, the apparatus estimates and calculates the power consumption during the power-saving mode of the image forming apparatus 100 (S108); and the apparatus adds the measured power consumption during the normal mode to the estimated and calculated power consumption during power-saving mode to calculate and maintain the total power consumption of the image forming apparatus 100 (S102 and S108).
