PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily carry out AFI (auto fluorescence imaging) without a cost increase even in an electronic endoscope system having only an ordinary light observing function.;SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope includes an overtube 13 mounted to the insertion part, and a hood 14 mounted to the tip part. The overtube 13 is provided with first and second optical fibers 38, 39 guiding excitation light emitted from an excitation light source device. First and second light projection units 41, 42 irradiating excitation light toward the body cavity are fixed to the outer peripheral surface of the hood 14. Self-fluorescence is emitted from living tissue in the body cavity by the irradiation of excitation light. Since the overtube 13, the hood 14, the first and second projection units 41, 42 and the excitation light source device are externally fitted to the electronic endoscope, AFI can be easily carried out without the cost increase.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
