PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide light emission amount control technique based on estimation of lamp efficiency as a function of temperature and electric power to solve a conventional problem concerned with light emission amount control of a gas discharge lamp.;SOLUTION: A metal halide lamp includes an arc tube 1 arranged in an outer jacket 11. The outer jacket is deaerated and sealed in a glass-made fixed stem member 14 having an external base part 10. A pair of conductors 18, 19 are sealed in the fixed stem member 14 and penetrated through the fixed stem member. The arc tube 1 has a pair of electrodes 2, 3, and each electrode is projected into the inside of the arc tube 1 on each end part position and provides discharge lamp activation based on an external power supply during operation. A coupling part between a conductor 6 and the conductor 18 is constituted by a wire in which the outside of an emitted substance shield (shroud) 13 is arranged being extended in a vertical direction. A pair of optional getters 20, 21 are attached to a support structure part 12 and vacuum in an outer enclosure can be maintained by utilizing respective getters 20, 21.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
