PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image processing technology which helps to greatly reduce false images or a lack of image in reconstructed images thereby increasing reconstruction accuracy, and which is applicable to the subject of observation composed of plural components, as well as to a sample which has an unknown number of components constituting the structure.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus used in an electron microscope having a tilting device for tilting the subject of observation and an imaging device, including means for tilting the subject of observation at a given step of angle and housing an acquired tilted image, means for positioning the acquired tilted image, means for generating an initial reconstructed image based on the acquired tilted image, means for generating a plurality of projected images by projecting the initial reconstructed image at a given angle, means for calculating an error in corresponding pixels between the tilted image and the projected image, means for determining the priority of processing from the error, means for calculating density per gradation level, means for determining the priority of processing from the density, and further means for changing the density value of each pixel of the initial reconstructed image according to the respective priorities.
