PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing trans, trans-4,4'-bicyclohexyldicarboxylic acid useful as a raw material for medicines, agrochemicals, liquid crystal materials, etc.;SOLUTION: The method for producing trans, trans-4,4'-bicyclohexyldicarboxylic acid of trans, trans-isomer comprises isomerizing a mixture of the cis-isomer and the trans-isomer of trans, trans-4,4'-bicyclohexyldicarboxylic acid in a protonic solvent having a boiling point of ≥130°C in the presence of an alkali metal salt under heating.
