Polymer obtainable by polycondensation or polyadduct formation from monomeric compounds, wherein accompanying use is made as monomeric compound of 1,1-dimethylolcycloalkanes of the formula I or 1,1-dimethylolcycloalkenes of the formula Ia or alkoxylated derivatives thereof.
