PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for supporting a long member, which can suppress the deflection or warpage of the long member, when worked, and which can prevent the damage to the long member.;SOLUTION: The long member supporting mechanism comprises: a sphere group C composed of a first sphere group C1 and a second sphere group C2 arranged on the center axis of a long member W, a plurality of movable holding members 1 arranged to abut against the outer circumference of the sphere group C; and a coil spring 2 acting as bias means for biasing the individual holding members 1 toward the center axis of the long member W.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
