PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device, equipped with a visible light optical communication means capable of performing communication, even with a light source which does not cope with a first communication rate. PSOLUTION: Even if the lighting device is one that uses a light source which does not cope with the first communication rate, it can be made to conform to visible light communication, by detecting the signal of a repetition part of the first communication rate, converting the signal into a signal of a second communication rate as one cycle, and superimposing the signal on a light source that copes with the signal of the second communication rate.
