PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground property testing method and a ground property testing device capable of measuring with high accuracy a displacement amount of the ground displaced by directly applying a load on a ground surface reached by an excavation head, and performing highly reliable ground property testing.;SOLUTION: A ground property testing method includes: a penetration step for having an excavation head with a jack disposed at its front end in an excavation direction penetrate to a prescribed position in ground; a pressing step for, after the penetration step, activating and moving the jack in the penetration direction to press the ground; a measurement step for measuring a load amount applied to the ground by the jack in the pressing step and a displacement amount of the jack moved due to the load amount; and a strength acquisition step for acquiring the strength of the ground from a relationship between the load amount and the displacement amount of the jack measured in the measurement step.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
