PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume hologram having no uneven brightness caused by uneven illumination light when the hologram is illuminated by light guided through a light guide plate or light exiting from a light guide plate, and to provide a method for making the hologram and a display device using the hologram.;SOLUTION: The volume hologram is made by disposing a density pattern mask 4 to compensate the intensity distribution of illumination light in the optical path 5 of light illuminating a pattern image 1 or in an exiting side of object light 6 from the pattern image 1, close to or in contact with the pattern image 1, and by recording the pattern image 1 as a transmission type or reflection type volume hologram, and the hologram is reproduced by irradiating the hologram with reproducing illumination light having the intensity distribution on the hologram surface. In the volume hologram, a pattern image with superposition of the density pattern 4 compensating the intensity distribution of the illumination light is recorded.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
