It is intended to provide a feed which is free from any animal-origin component and contributes to the ovary development or egg laying in female imagos. It is also intended to provide a safe method of feeding insects belonging to Sarcophagidae (flesh flies) and Calliphoridae (blow flies) using the same and a method of feeding insects belonging to Sarcophagidae and Calliphoridae while controlling the hatching stage, larval period and egg-laying stage. Use of the above-described feed which contains yeasts, cereals and vegetable polysaccharides without any organic acid contributes to the ovary development and egg laying in female imagos. That is, by using the feed free from any animal-origin component, the ovary development and egg laying can be conducted in female imagos belonging to Sarcophagidae and Calliphoridae. Moreover, shipment can be controlled by preliminarily regulating the conditions of imagos, the number of eggs and so on thereby.
