PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bleaching agent and an external preparation for skin having not only excellent bleaching effect, but also excellence in stability and safety. PSOLUTION: The bleaching agent and the external preparation for skin each comprises an extract of Pithecellobium tenue craib. The extract of Pithecellobium tenue craib has excellent inhibition of tyrosinase activity and melanin production-suppressing action and has not only excellent effect preventing and treating pigment spot, freckles and blackening of the skin caused by skin pigmentation after sunburn, but also excellent safety and stability.
