PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating substrate treating method for a magnesium alloy by which a coating film having excellent adhesiveness and the appearance of the coating film is formed on a magnesium alloy molding, and a coating method.;SOLUTION: The coating substrate treating method of the magnesium alloy is performed by holding the magnesium alloy molding under a reduced pressure atmosphere of ≤2×10³ Pa, making exist a treating agent on the whole surroundings of the magnesium alloy molding and releasing the reduced pressure to treat the magnesium alloy molding with the treating agent, cleaning and drying the treated molding.
