PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system having a simple configuration in which temperature fault of the fuel cell system is detected quickly. PSOLUTION: The fuel cell system 10 comprises a membrane electrode junction including a solid polyelectrolyte membrane, an anode formed on one of surfaces of the solid polyelectrolyte membrane, and a cathode formed on another surface of the solid polyelectrolyte membrane; an anode side plate on which a fuel channel facing the anode is formed; a fuel cell 11 including a cell lamination formed by laminating a plurality of cells with cooling water conduit plates having cooling water conduits through which cooling water flows; a cooling water circulation pump 74 which introduces the cooling water to the cooling water conduits; a temperature sensor 76 disposed on the external surface of the fuel cell 11; and a system control unit 78 which determines the temperature fault of the system when temperature measured by the temperature sensor 76 satisfies a predetermined condition.
