Method for measuring depth of anesthesia using 13C- breath test

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the anesthetic depth of an anesthetized subject (a mammal including a human) and a composition to be used for the method, especially, a method for easily, noninvasively, and precisely measuring the anesthetic depth of an anesthetized patient during an operation by using expiration, and a composition (a pharmaceutical preparation composition) to be appropriately used for the method.;SOLUTION: The composition, which is converted into labeled carbon dioxide in a living body and discharged into the expiration and where a compound labeled by at least an isotope C or O is defined as an effective component, is used as the composition for measuring the anesthetic depth. The composition is intravenously administered to the subject. The expiration is sampled. The abundance ratio of the carbon dioxide (the ratio of amount of labeled CO₂ to the amount of non-labeled CO₂ or the total amount of CO₂) included in the expiration is calculated.
