PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide 1,2-octanediol that contains a small amount of an organic solvent and is easily handleable.;SOLUTION: The 1,2-octanediol composition comprises 100 pts.mass of 1,2-octanediol represented by general formula (1): R-CH(OH)-CH₂(OH) (wherein R is a 6C linear alkyl group) and 1-5 pts.mass of water.
