PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easier and simpler evaluation method of steel products than any conventional ESSO testing, which can inhibit variation by taking distribution of fracture toughness in board thickness direction of the steel product into consideration.;SOLUTION: This method is characterized in that the crack arrest condition in T0 is defined as K0= Kd + K0×r to evaluate arresting performance of the intended steel product based on the K0 value, where this K0 value is the crack extension drive force in design stress (σ0) and preset temperature (T0) determined from design requirement for using the intended steel product, Kd is the resistance to crack extension near central area on board thickness of the intended steel product, and K0×r is the resistance to crack extension due to ductile fracture occurred on surface layer of the intended steel product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
