PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily measuring a particle matter (PM) amount included in exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine combustion chamber, and provide a method and a device for controlling combustion in the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine based on the detected value of the particulate matter detected by the method.;SOLUTION: An inlet temperature detector is arranged in an exhaust gas inlet of an oxidation catalytic converter arranged in an exhaust gas pipe of a diesel engine, an outlet temperature detector is arranged in an exhaust gas outlet, the exhaust gas temperature is detected in both of them, and increase/decrease of the particulate matter included in the exhaust gas is detected by variation of temperature difference between the exhaust gas temperature in the exhaust gas inlet and the exhaust gas temperature in the exhaust gas outlet. The increase/decrease of the particulate matter is detected by the above method, and at least one of increase of a combustion air amount of the internal combustion engine and improvement of injection properties of fuel is performed when an increase amount of the particulate matter exceeds a set value, and a combustion state is improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
