PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable from which coated optical fibers can be taken out without damaging the fibers regardless of the skill of a worker, and to provide a sheath tearing method therefor.;SOLUTION: On the inner face 11a of a cable sheath, a notch 12 is provided which bites in the sheath and which is continuous in the longitudinal direction. On the outer face 11b of the cable sheath, projections 13 are provided which are in parallel with the notch and which have a base part 13a situated across the notch 12. At the base parts 13a holding the notch in-between, the blades 15a of a cutting tool 15 are applied to make a cut into the cable sheath 11. The biting tip end of the notch 12 is desirably formed in a manner traversing a line 14 connecting the bases 13a of the projections holding the notch 12 in-between.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
