PSOLUTION: The moving image recorder 10 receives an input stream from an image inputting unit 12 at first and the characterizing information is detected by a feature detection unit 13. When a stream as well as the characterizing information accompanied by the stream exist in a data storing unit 11, a correlation detecting unit 14 calculates the correlation of the characterizing information obtained from the feature detection unit 13 and another characterizing information recorded in the data storing unit 11. In this case, when the video image having characterization information high in the correlation with the characterization information of the input stream, is stored, a compression recording unit 15 carries out the recompression of the input stream employing the input stream and a stream high in the correlation with the input stream to record it in the data storing unit 11.
