PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new azulene derivative having excellent serum cholesterol-reducing activities and useful as a serum cholesterol-reducing agent.;SOLUTION: The azulene derivative is a compound represented by general formula (I) [wherein, R¹, R² and R³ are the same or different, and each an azulene ring which may have a substituent or a benzene ring which may have a substituent (with the proviso that one of R¹, R² and R³ is always the azulene ring which may have a substituent); A is -(CH₂)_m-, -O-(CH₂)_n-, -CH=CH-(CH₂)_n-, -CH(OH)-(CH₂)_n- or -C(=O)-(CH₂)_n- (wherein, m is an integer of 1-5; and n is an integer of 1-4)] or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
