PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle behavior simulation device that achieves high speed simulation by optimizing a particle search range according to a particle diameter ratio and particle density in simulating the behavior of powder by the use of DEM, thereby reducing load on a calculating process, and to provide a particle behavior simulation method and a computer program. PSOLUTION: The behaviors of particles based on interactive forces depending on distances of particles of different particle diameters are simulated. Target particles are selected in a calculation target area according to their particle diameters in descending order. Particles that are or may be in contact with other particle are searched within a small area where each target particle is present. Then information about each searched particle is stored. The integrated displacement of each target particle is calculated. Only when the integrated displacement of the target particle exceeds a prescribed value, particles are searched. If the integrated displacement of it is the prescribed value or below, the behavior of the particle is simulated based on stored information about the particles. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
