PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decomposing polylactic acid, by which the polylactic acid can efficiently be decomposed, and to provide a microorganism and a polylactic acid-decomposing composition, which can be used therefor. PSOLUTION: This method for decomposing the polylactic acid comprises decomposing polylactic acid with a new actinomyces: Actinomadura atraherbacea T16 having a polylactic acid-degrading ability or a crushed product thereof. The polylactic acid-decomposing composition contains the new actinomyces: Actinomadura atraherbacea T16 having the polylactic acid-decomposing ability, especially Actinomadura atraherbacea T16-4 sp. nov., Accession number.
