PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow cytometer having a live-cell sorting and treating function to enable the sorting and treatment of unnecessary live cells from a live cell group containing a large number of live cells in a short time and high precision absolutely without applying any damage on the objective live cells.;SOLUTION: A sample liquid flow containing the live cell group is irradiated with a measuring laser beam to collect optical information on the scattered light and/or the fluorescent light emitted by the application of the laser beam from each live cell in the sample liquid flow; the live cell corresponding to the optical information is judged as an unnecessary live cell or the objective live cell based on the collected optical information, and exclusively the live cell judged as the unnecessary live cell in the live cell group in the sample liquid is irradiated with a femtosecond laser light according to the judged result to damage and kill the unnecessary live cell.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
