PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute the information of merchandise relevant to program content viewed by a user in the past to a user terminal, and to prevent the quantity of information to be distributed to the user terminal from becoming huge. PSOLUTION: This merchandise information distribution system is provided with: a content distribution part 130 for distributing program content and the merchandise identifier of merchandise relevant to the program content; a user terminal 200 for reproducing the program content, and for extracting a merchandise identifier from the reproduced program content; a viewing history information generation part 320 for generating viewing history information from viewing information including the extracted merchandise identifier; a category decision part 515 for deciding the category of merchandise as the object of retrieval based on the retrieval request of merchandise information from the user terminal 20; a viewing information retrieval part 430 for retrieving the viewing information corresponding to the decided category from the viewing history information; and a viewing merchandise information transmission part 511 for transmitting the information of merchandise corresponding to the retrieved viewing information to the user terminal 200.
