PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorber effective in removing pathogenic proteins like bilirubin, etc. included in blood or plasma. PSOLUTION: An adsorber based on this invention contains titanium oxide that has positive surface charges in blood or plasma. The isoelectric point of titanium oxide should be at least 7.5 so that it can carry positive surface charges. The isoelectric point of titanium oxide is controllable by such a method as making the titanium oxide carry a metal oxide or metal hydrate with a relatively high isoelectric point, or treating the titanium oxide surface with an alkaline solution.
