Feature extraction manner of the face image and the multiple face

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed and compact feature extraction method for a facial image and a creating method for an identification signal while improving robustness for variation in illumination. PSOLUTION: The feature extraction method includes: a process for respectively dividing a plurality of facial images into patterns with an odd number of divisions and also in different block sizes; a process for calculating a conversion coefficient by carrying out orthogonal conversion for each of divided blocks and calculating a conversion coefficient; a process for selecting a prescribed conversion coefficient based on a genetic algorithm (GA) from the calculated conversion coefficient; and a process for storing the position of the selected conversion coefficient.
