In one embodiment, this method includes that given-ioff neutron enters stratum, from downhole tool to produce inelastic gamma-rays, detection that a part of inelastic gamma ray is scattered back downhole tool to obtain non-resilient gamma-ray signal, determines that the stratum is at least partially based on non-resilient gamma-ray signal. Non-resilient gamma-ray signal can be substantially free of superthermal and thermal capture background.
