Automation of sample storage with a pipetting and nucleic acid adsorption system, which stores a patient nucleic acid sample in an identified location. In the event of system failure or interruption, software included as part of the system notes throughout the process, the stage and the sample(s) position through a tracking process. The software then generates a new set of commands for the system, based on the system's stage and the samples' position, so that the process resumes from the interruption point forward.
