Means for maintaining a flag in a desired position and comprising a position transducer is disclosed. A support mounted position transducer on a flagpole. An alarm indicates a deviation of the position of the transducer with respect to the desired position. The alarm audio output. The alarm sound output optionally indicates the direction of deflection of the deflection, which allows a user to correct the position of the flag. The position transducer may include a central conductor element and a plurality of contacts surrounding the center conductor element. More particularly, the central conductor element may be a conductive ball resting on a concave conductive electrode (Figure 2).
