SYSTEM FOR PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY IN ONCOLOGICAL DISEASES

The system for photodynamic therapy in oncological diseases, malignant dermatologic diseases in particular, is applicable in medicine. It comprises two independent laser sources with different wavelength (1 and 2) combined with light guides (3), a heat source (4), and a heat sensor (5). During therapy, photosensibilizer solution is preliminarily introduced into the patientÆs organism, which gets concentrated in the malignant formation. This is followed by heating the formation and the area around it with a heat source up to a temperature of 42-43 degrees, which is kept permanent, and simultaneous irradiation by the two laser sources during therapy. The wavelength of one of the laser radiations ensures the maximum absorption by the photosensibilizer leading to the photochemical reaction with the formation of the syngletic oxygen. The second wavelength used in combination with the heat action stimulates further the creation of the molecular oxygen in the area. The quantum yield of the therapy process is raised up to approximately 18 percents.
