Solutions include design, production, purification and use of universal vaccines for the prevention and control of infections caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae in pigs. SUMMARY vaccines is the presence of one or more recombinant polypeptides prepared by inserting the corresponding gene from Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae into an expression vector, expression in Escherichia coli and subsequent purification. The invention further encompasses the use of recombinant proteins such as antigen, allowing detection of specific antibody responses as well as their specific use as immunogens to immunize target species or of different kinds of experimental animals for highly specific hyperimmune sera. This serum can also be used in a wide range of diagnostic methods designed to detect protein specific to that procedure prepared hyperimmune serum, with their subsequent utilization in the practical diagnosis or experimental investigations.
