In the present invention, there is disclosed a method of removing radon dissolved in water wherein the method is characterized in that water enters a module (1) through a central pipe (3.1) after which the flow divides into individual parallel branches. Water flows in a first cartridge (5.1) from the bottom thereof and in the upper section, it is bridged into a second cartridge (5.2) and in downward direction water flows through the second cartridge. This process is repeated û i.e. in each odd cartridge (5) water flows upward, in each even cartridge (5) water flows downward û until a point when water free of radon leaves the module (1) through a discharge hole (3.2). Flow rate of water being purified can be controlled by means of valves disposed at the inlet and outlet of the device, where in the discharge hole (3.2), there is disposed a check valve (3,5) preventing back flow of purified water to the module (1) in the direction toward the well. After leaving the unit with cartridges (5), water is further lead into an equalizing pressure tank (17) and here from through a piping into a building distribution network (18). At the same time, air is supplied such as to flow in each cartridge (5) counter the direction of water flow. Supply of fresh air, sucked in by a compressor (4) in the device upper section (2.1) is lead in the direction away from compressor (4) in three parallel branches, subsequently divided such that enters from bellow even cartridges (5.2, 5.4). Above, air enters through bridging the adjacent cartridge (from 5.2 into 5.1, from 5.4 into 5.3) and there it passes downwards to thereby achieving countercurrent flow thereof relative to water. After such passage through two of the cartridges (5), air is led in the lower section through a collecting pipe (4.6) from the individual branches into a common collector being connected with a siphon trap (6) serving for collection of water drops from a membrane and wherefrom it can be discharged by means of a valve. There is also disclosed an apparatus for making the above-described method.
