The invention relates to the malate salts of N- (4 - {[6,7-bis- (methyloxy) quinolin-4-yl] oxy} phenyl) -N '- (4-fluorophenyl) cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxamide, including ( L) -malate salt, (D) -malate salt, (DL) -malate salt and mixtures thereof; and crystalline and amorphous forms of malate salts. The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing at least one N- (4 - {[6,7-bis- (methoxy) quinolin-4-yl] oxy} phenyl) -N '- (4-fluorophenyl) malate salt cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxamide; and methods for treating cancer, comprising administering at least one N- (4 - {[6,7-bis- (methyloxy) quinolin-4-yl] oxy} phenyl) -N '- (4-fluorophenyl) cyclopropane- malate salt 1,1-dicarboxamide.
