This invention relates to a fine grained cobalt based alloy with excellent mechanical and creep properties and a method for manufacturing the same. The Cobalt based alloy of this invention is manufactured using combination of mechanical working with a solution annealing process with uniform micro structural grain structure throughout and possessing desired mechanical properties. The process of mechanical working (more than 20% reduction at low temperature) and solution annealing at about 1050 - 1070° C carried out for a time period of 3 % hours imparts the desired properties. The cobalt alloy, according to the invention possess a uniform range of micro structural grain structure in the range of 4 to 6 ASTM values as well as Elongation values in the range of above 30 %.
