A system and a method for shot boundary detection using compressed domain information have been disclosed. The system uses the compressed domain information to extract features of an input video stream and further applies a fuzzy mutlifactorial approach to determine frames representing shot boundaries. As, the system utilizes the compressed domain information it saves time and minimizes complex computations and thus, detects shot boundaries in real time.
