A new quantum well infrared photo detector and it"s characterization has been presented to detect a band of wavelength from l0.1μm -11.0 urn with peak at 10.5 μm. The 30 well GaAs/AlxGa(i-X)As, 10.5 μrn Quantum well Infrared Photodetector has been grown, chemically processed and DC characterized. The morphological study was done with the Scanning Electron Microscope. Elemental characterization was performed with the Energy Dispersive Spectrometer. The elemental values are found to be comparable with the theoretical values. For the dark current characterization the device shows itself to be a successful one. Details of the packaging for optical characterization is presented.
