This invention relates to a process for coating materials with Aluminium-Chromium (Al-Cr) based gas nitrided coatings, comprising the steps of subjecting polished substrates to the step of grit blasting, preparing a mixture of Aluminium and chromium powders, coating the substrates with the powder mixture by plasma spraying followed by subjecting the plasma sprayed coating to the step of gas nitriding to obtain the Al-Cr based gas nitrided coating.
