The invention refers to a wireless system of long range for transmitting data in networks of remote weather stations. Three main parts are included: remote terminal units, base terminal units and a central server. The transmission of the data acquired from the RTU s and the BTU is performed in the ISM band at a frequency of 900 MHz with maximum distances of up to 64 km between terminal units. The base station acts as a gateway between a satellite network of Ku band and a RF network at a 900 MHz. The present invention is advantageous in that it considers a mesh and a self routing topology so that the remote stations are always communicated.
