The system provides a data exchange between monitoring and control system stations. The system comprises a control unit, which receives and processes signals resulting from a plurality of sensors for generating the control signals in actuating devices; a GSM/GPRS communication module able to communicate with a remote terminal selected at long distance; a Bluetooth communication module, which provides a communication link of short range with a selected remote unit; an interface unit for conditioning and amplifying signals; a power supply and backup battery recharge unit. The unit control may encode and transmit text format data related to the input signals to a remote user terminal selected through any of the communication modules; the invention may also receive data, decode and interpret commands for generating control outputs. The remote terminal may be a personal computer (PC), a personal digital assistant (PDA), mobile phone or a device including Bluetooth and/or GSM/GPRS technolog y. The invention allows data to be sent and received by the remote terminal, thus facilitating the monitoring of the devices for detecting and controlling the actuators. In addition, the invention acts as a communication gateway between remote terminals based on said technologies, which increases the communication flexibility for the data exchange, thus turning the invention into a system different from those currently available on the market.
