APPLES WITH HIGH POLYPHENOLIC CONTENT

Provided is an apple extract from a fruit cross of hawthorn and crab-apple, which comprises a total polyphenol content of at least 5000 mg/kg, including low molecular weight polyphenols having a molecular weight below 600 between 22% and 40% of the total polyphenols so that at least 85% of the low molecular weight polyphenols comprise (-)-epicatechin. The extract can be used to treat arterial stiffness or in dietary compositions.
