Endophyte and grass cultivar combination which produces ergovaline alkaloid and uses for as an avian deterrent

Disclosed is an isolated endophyte selected from the group consisting of: AR601, AR602, AR603, and AR604, (Deposit Nos: V07/029058, V07/029059, V07/029060, and V07/029061), and combinations thereof. Further disclosed is an endophyte and grass cultivar combination that repels avian species from the combination, said combination comprising an isolated endophyte in combination with a grass cultivar, wherein the endophyte is selected from the group consisting of: AR601, AR602, AR603, and AR604 (Deposit Nos.V07/029058, V07/029059, V071029060, and V07/029061). Further disclosed is an endophyte and Festuca grass cultivar combination including an isolated endophyte selected from the group consisting of: AR601, AR602, AR603, and AR604 (Deposit Nos.V07/029058, V071029059, V071029060, and V071029061), and combinations thereof; wherein avian species are repelled from the cultivar herbage and seeds produced therefrom.
