The invention relates to a process for preparing cerium-doped yttrium and aluminium garnet to be employed in opto-electronics applications, for lighting sources with white light emission. According to the invention, the process consists in sintering the powder at 1050°C in air, using yttrium oxide, aluminium oxide and cerium and ammonium nitrate as starting materials.
