The invention relates to a stand for studying the functional characteristics of low power Stirling engines used in helio-thermo-mechanical conversion. According to the invention, the stand comprises a heater representing the hot source consisting of an aluminium block () wherein there are embedded serially connected heating resistors () supplied by an adjustable power supply represented by an autotransformer (), the stand is also provided with a cooler which represents the cold source consisting of an aluminium block () provided in the lateral sides with some aluminium radiators () cooled with cold air which is brought in the area through some flexible tubes (), the cooling action is combined with a heating action carried out by some heating resistors () embedded in the aluminium block () and supplied with adjustable voltage by an autotransformer (), the stand being also provided with an eddy-current electromagnetic brake (), a torque transducer () and an electronic tachometer (), both being necessary for measuring the torque and speed of the engine depending on the modification occurring in the thermal condition thereof.
