The rolling mill has roll stands (12) that are arranged in rows in a central aperture of scaffold spaces (57) and displaceable along the scaffold. A change carriage (54) is provided with change positions (58,59) for the roll stands at the sides of the row of roll stands. The change positions of the carriage are spaced according to the distance between the scaffold spaces. An independent claim is included for method for changing roll stand.
