An apparatus as an exercise machine resistance, characterized in that the apparatus comprises: a mechanism (30; 60; 70; 80) to allow the apparatus to make inhibition, for an amount of time, the movement of a surface mobile (10; 52) in the apparatus in a direction caused by an external force applied to the movable surface; while the apparatus allows uninhibited movement of the movable surface in the opposite direction to the external force; and wherein the movable surface is linked to a resistance source which applies force which is diametric one with respect to the external force applied.
